Hungary has some limited natural resources (bauxite, coal, and natural gas), as well as fertile soils and arable land. Hungarian wines are enjoyed throughout Europe. The country‘s main manufactured exports include electric and electronic equipment, machinery, foodstuffs and chemicals. Economic growth resumed in 2010 and was mainly fuelled by robust external demand, while private consumption and investment continued to fall. Headline inflation is expected to stabilize around the medium term target of 3%. Further tax cuts will take place from 2011 but offsetting expenditure cuts have yet to be spelled out. A renewed commitment to credible and sustainable fiscal consolidation is required to reduce financing costs and instill private sector confidence, which will support growth prospects.
